What insulation costs in the Portland area

Most contractors will not put a number on a page. Here are the ranges we see, so you know what to expect before anyone comes to the house.

These are market ranges for the Portland area, not a quote. Your written quote will be a single number. Energy Trust incentives come off after this: $1.25 per square foot on a qualifying attic, which on the 1,200 square foot example is $1,500 back.

What moves the price

  • Existing depth: a bare attic needs more material than a top up
  • Access: a hatch in a closet with a 3 in 12 pitch is slower than a walk up
  • Can lights and penetrations: each one is sealed and covered
  • Removal: wet, contaminated or vermiculite insulation changes the job
  • Square footage: bigger attics cost more in total and less per foot

Questions

Pricing questions

Why a range and not a price?

Because we have not seen your attic. Depth, access, pitch, the number of can lights and whether anything has to come out all move the number. The range tells you whether to bother calling. The written quote tells you the price.

Is the inspection free?

Yes, for any job in our service area. We measure, photograph and quote at no charge and no obligation.

Do you offer financing?

Ask when you call. We can point you to options for larger projects and the Energy Trust incentive comes off the top regardless.

Will the quote change on install day?

No. The written quote is the price unless we find something you were not told about, like vermiculite or a wiring problem, and then we stop and talk before anything changes.
