Portland is a city of old houses. Bungalows in Sellwood and Woodstock, foursquares in Laurelhurst and Irvington, ranches out in Montavilla and St. Johns, most of them built before anyone put insulation in a wall and many with an attic that has never been touched since the 1970s.
