Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam where it earns its price

Foam is the most expensive insulation per inch and the right answer in the right place. We use it where it seals and insulates at once.

Where we use it

Rim joists, vaulted ceilings, shops and pole barns

Closed cell foam is an air barrier, a vapor retarder and R-6 per inch in a single pass, which makes it the right product for rim joists, cathedral ceilings with no room for depth, metal buildings and shop walls. Open cell is cheaper, softer and better for sound in interior walls. We do not sell foam for a standard vented attic, because blown insulation does that job for a third of the price.

  • Closed cell: R-6 to R-7 per inch, adds structural rigidity
  • Open cell: R-3.6 per inch, better sound control, lower cost
  • Rim joist packages that pair with crawl space work
  • Shops, garages, barns and metal buildings

How it works

Four steps from call to warm

  1. Call or send the form

Tell us the city, the age of the house and what you have noticed. We will tell you on the phone whether it is worth a visit.

  2. We measure, not guess

We get in the attic or crawl space, check the depth, the air leaks, the venting and the wiring, and photograph it for you.

  3. One written price

Square footage, R-value, materials, air sealing and the rebate you qualify for, all on one page. Good for 30 days.

  4. Install and clean up

Most attics are done in a day. We lay drop cloths, blow it in, bring you up to see the depth markers, and leave the house cleaner than we found it.

Questions

Spray Foam Insulation questions

More on the FAQ page or call (503) 555-0142.

Is spray foam safe in a home?

Yes when it is mixed and applied correctly and the house is vacated during cure. We follow the manufacturer reentry times and you get that in writing.

How is it priced?

By the board foot, which is one square foot at one inch thick. Closed cell in the Portland market runs roughly $1.50 to $2.50 per board foot installed. The quote lists the thickness and the total.

Does it qualify for rebates?

Energy Trust incentives are based on the R-value reached, not the material, so foam can qualify in walls and floors if it meets the requirement.

Can you foam my whole attic?

We can, but for a vented attic with room for depth we will recommend blown insulation instead. Foam on the roof deck makes sense only when you are conditioning the attic.
